Holiday Wishes Swap - Mail by November 13th

Scrap book paper, rubber stamps, embossing
powder, stickers
In these days of instant electronic communications with various devices, it seems that the personal touch of a hands-on greeting is becoming a "lost art." Here at MMSA, we haven't "lost it." We continue to do our best to brighten the day for those who handle and receive our mail art.

In 2016 we had a Last Minute Gifts post card swap, an Ornament Exchange, and later- a Re-purposed Holiday post card swap, followed by a Ring In The New Year exchange.  Maybe next year we might replay one or more of these themes.

This year, let's flood the postal service with some unique, handcrafted post cards with a holiday- or winter-themed design. For this swap, you may send in from one to six post cards.   Any medium/ technique allowed.

So flex your creativity, think of the smile that will light up the face of the recipient, and then- have fun making some holiday/wintry art!

And how about including a short personal message of cheer or some good wishes on the left side of your post card?

I know, this seems very early, but I chose an early get-it-to-the-post-office date so that I can log-in your cards, photograph them, post pictures of them, and then- swap and send them out to their new homes, allowing plenty of time for postal handling and delivery.

SWAP DETAILS:
  • You may submit as many as SIX cards.  (You will get back the same number you send, each from a different artist)
  • Your cards will be mailed to your host in an envelope, and your host will mail them "naked" to other swappers unless you specify a different option and send necessary postage for it.  International swappers may request to have them all mailed together in one envelope.
  • If you are sending more than one, please make sure you insert waxed paper, parchment or cellophane between the cards so they don't get stuck together in the envelope, especially if you use glue, paint, glitter, or sealant
  • Write “MMSA - Holiday/Winter" on the back of each card and attach your return address in the UPPER LEFT HAND CORNER in case of postal delivery problems.  An email address legibly written will make it easier for your recipient to thank you.
  • LEAVE THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE POSTCARD BLANK (THE PART WHERE THE "TO" ADDRESS LABEL GOES)
  • Include a mailing label with your name and address for each card you create
(Your host will attach them to the cards she mails back to you)

  •  Please include the proper postage in the envelope or adhere stamps to your postcards (see below for postal guidelines)
  • Postcards made from thicker cardboard (therefore stiff/not easily bendable)  will need nonmachineable postage.  Thank you.
Postage and Card Size
  • In order to use the postcard rate ($.34) your card cannot be bigger than 6"
x  4+1/4", and it must be thin and flexible.  A card that is larger, thick, lumpy or doesn't bend, will require more postage.
  • If your card is an unusual shape (square, round) or is flexible but has some lumpy embellishments it will probably cost you the "nonmachineable" rate of $.70
  • If your card is thick and doesn't bend at all, the post office may consider it a package and you should go get it weighed and measured to figure out the proper postage.
INTERNATIONAL SWAPPERS - contact the swap host regarding using PayPal to cover return mailing postage, or make other arrangements.
